60 Day Picture Challenge

Day 11 - A picture of something you hate.

Roaches.
Ugh..it was even hard to google search an image
of one, so I chose this cartoonized version of one to be able to bear it.
Big ones, small ones, all kinds. I become paralyzed with fear and eventually run away without bringing attention to it until I'm a safe distance away. Luckily I've only seen one in my apartment in Japan despite how old this place is. At least one good thing about winter is that hopefully it will kill them all.

I don't like this word messed up. I've had messed up things done to me, so I prefer 'the craziest.' I've had crazy times with these people. We're all spread out around the world now, but when we come together, it's always another crazy memory.

I actually really like this song. It makes me sleepy not because it's boring but because it's so soothing. It's also such a beautiful song to have dedicated to a bride...too bad they didn't last. :(

Day 09 - A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most.

He was a friend, then something more, now something less. Throughout that time, he was always there for me in every single and trivial way. The night of my beloved grandmother's funeral was the most important time he was there that I can remember..He seldom added to the list of "things to get through" and so that's why he beat out some close runner-ups.

Can't you technically dance to anything? I know I do... 

Instead I'll post a song (more like a genre) that literally gets me up to dance. 

Salsa music is in my blood - or at least the rhythm is. I want to take lessons and actually stick with them so that I can show off whenever someone assumes I can dance salsa because I'm Cuban. Bonus points cause the video was shot in Miami! Holla!

Selena - Dreaming of You

There are plenty of songs I know all the lyrics to, so I'm taking today's challenge up a notch by posting the FIRST song I remember knowing all the lyrics too. I never had the song on cassette or CD, so instead I told everyone in the car to shut up whenever it came on the radio. ^.^
I even remember thinking of my elementary boyfriend whenever this song came on. oh young puppy love..
I saw the movie about her life on TV sometime before I came to Japan. When I first saw the movie I had no concept of how young she was when she was murdered. So tragic...but her legacy still lives on.
Reading her wiki page while searching for the lyrics I also learned that Selena Gomez is named after her. 

My friend Lady Genki, who has also been following this challenge, posts the lyrics to her songs. Considering this challenge is about knowing all the words, I will too!

60 Day Picture Challenge

Day 07 - A picture of your most treasured item.

My most treasured item is irreplaceable. It is priceless. Therefore it is not in Japan...
My old family photos are precious to me. Unlike kids today who take pictures daily on their phones or other digital media, the photos from my generation's childhood and those of their family members are usually limited to a few photo albums. When my parents tell me the story behind the photos I see in the albums, I really listen.
This act of preserving information via oral communication is a thing of the past and so, the accompanying picture becomes a treasure as a key to part of my history.
This is my dad looking like a total bamf (look it up). He told me this was the I.D.
picture taken for the records after he was hired my the Miami Beach Fire Department almost 30 years ago;
one the most important days of his life.

Day 07 - A song that reminds you of a certain event

Again with 9/11!? I swear I'm not trying to be depressing, but since this day asks for a specific event, I went with it. Like I said in another post, the sadness of that day affected me greatly. I don't focus on the conspiracy theories or war that followed. Instead, I listen to this song every year on the anniversary and  think about the people whose lives changed forever... or were forever lost.
