Selena - Dreaming of You

There are plenty of songs I know all the lyrics to, so I'm taking today's challenge up a notch by posting the FIRST song I remember knowing all the lyrics too. I never had the song on cassette or CD, so instead I told everyone in the car to shut up whenever it came on the radio. ^.^
I even remember thinking of my elementary boyfriend whenever this song came on. oh young puppy love..
I saw the movie about her life on TV sometime before I came to Japan. When I first saw the movie I had no concept of how young she was when she was murdered. So tragic...but her legacy still lives on.
Reading her wiki page while searching for the lyrics I also learned that Selena Gomez is named after her. 

My friend Lady Genki, who has also been following this challenge, posts the lyrics to her songs. Considering this challenge is about knowing all the words, I will too!

60 Day Picture Challenge

Day 07 - A picture of your most treasured item.

My most treasured item is irreplaceable. It is priceless. Therefore it is not in Japan...
My old family photos are precious to me. Unlike kids today who take pictures daily on their phones or other digital media, the photos from my generation's childhood and those of their family members are usually limited to a few photo albums. When my parents tell me the story behind the photos I see in the albums, I really listen.
This act of preserving information via oral communication is a thing of the past and so, the accompanying picture becomes a treasure as a key to part of my history.
This is my dad looking like a total bamf (look it up). He told me this was the I.D.
picture taken for the records after he was hired my the Miami Beach Fire Department almost 30 years ago;
one the most important days of his life.

Day 07 - A song that reminds you of a certain event

Again with 9/11!? I swear I'm not trying to be depressing, but since this day asks for a specific event, I went with it. Like I said in another post, the sadness of that day affected me greatly. I don't focus on the conspiracy theories or war that followed. Instead, I listen to this song every year on the anniversary and  think about the people whose lives changed forever... or were forever lost.

I don't know who decided that she should be an actress - maybe her or her parents who were in the movie industry - but she's not a great [good] actress (although she tries, bless her heart) yet she is world famous, dating Edward incarnate, and does what she's passionate about. I would love to experience that for a day.. preferably on a day when she's doing a photo shoot with Robert in Harper's Bazaar

Say what you want about her, but she's living the good life.

Day 06 - A song that reminds of you of somewhere

WISE - Thinking of You

I heard this song in a bathing ape store in Kyoto during a study abroad trip in 2007 with a couple of friends. It was as if we were all on the same wavelength,  because afterwards, we all treated the song as the theme song to our trip. Whenever I hear it, I'm reminded of being in that store in that time with those people. They know who they are. ;)

Day 05 - A picture of your favorite memory.

Of course there are so many great memories,
but I chose this picture of my younger self to represent my childhood.
Lately, I've been reading a lot of posts about how great the 90's were to grow up in and
wow, that brought back some great memories.

Playing outside with the neighborhood kids. Climbing trees. Summers at my grandmother's house playing nintendo all morning and watching cartoons all afternoon. Spinning at death-defying speeds on the tire with my friends at recess. The awesome pan con mantequilla with cafe con leche that my grandfather would make me. Summer camp at FCS. Annoying my brother. Sleepovers...
ah, the list could go on forever.

Phasing out my summer clothes and bringing in my winter clothes.
Kind of a boring night, but I've been putting it off and it's getting colder so I need my winter clothes.

I listened to this song on repeat on 9/11/2001. The sadness of that day really left an impact on me and this song reminds me of that time.

Day 03 - A picture of the cast from your favorite show.

I　have many too many favorite shows to choose just one
so I'm reinterpreting this challenge to be a picture of my favorite ensemble from a show. 
Sex and the City
I re-watch the episodes over and over because the ladies of the show make me feel like I'm living their fabulous lives in the most fabulous city ever, New York.
To me, they define what girlfriends should be and
remind me that great love doesn't come easy.

Lady Gaga - Bad Romance
 
I can't think of time when 'Bad Romance' has come on and I don't crank up the volume and sing out. If I can, I'll dance, releasing even more endorphins of happiness. Her music is fun, the lyrics eccentric, and it makes me happy. Don't roll your eyes, you know you love it too. ;)

I'm not entirely sure who I'm suppose to put here... It's not fair for my family to count so I'm putting a picture of my longest friend since, as she likes to put it,

There are worse songs out there and I'm sure I hate those too, but this one came right to mind. I'm not a fan of country music in general but something about this one makes me cringe. I know the chorus because I've been around it as it's been playing but that's about it. I didn't even play the video once through before posting this.
