Day 29 - A picture that can always make you smile.

Any picture of my pooch can make me smile.
Just look at him!
I miss my cucu so much!

Day 29 - A song from your childhood

Sailor Moon WAS my childhood. Whenever I heard this song, I knew I was transported into my own little world for 30 minutes. Even hearing it now takes me back to those times when I would get home and rewind the tape to watch that day's episode. Or better yet, during the summers when around 2pm I would wait for after every commercial for the theme song to start. Good times.
Moonie for life!

60 Day Picture Challenge

Day 28 - A picture of something you're afraid of.

Loneliness
A friend who is wise beyond his years recently posted a quote that went something like
'If one cannot enjoy their own company,
they will always feel lonely'.
I'm not recalling it correctly but I remember thinking that it applied to me. I've felt lonely in a room full of people, even knowing most of them. I've felt lonely at home and even when there are other people in the house.
I don't always hate being alone, but I suppose 'ending up alone' is a different story. I even hear of people in relationships who mostly do stuff alone and I think, wtf? Why does anyone ever have to be alone if they don't want to be? But, I guess it just happens sometimes...
If you can enjoy your own company, you'll never be alone. That will be my end goal.

Day 28 - A song that makes you feel guilty

Well, I don't have any songs that make me feel guilty like per se, so I approached this a different way. I chose this more recent song by Chris Brown. I know people make mistakes but beating a woman into the hospital and coming back to sing about how much money he's making is against my moral code - which is why my enjoyment of the song makes me feel guilty. I'd rather not hear anything from him again, ever, just so that I don't feel like I'm supporting him. /rant

challenges: day 27/27

60 Day Picture Challenge

Day 27 - A picture of yourself and a family member.

I already mentioned my mom and dad in other posts, so naturally, my brother would follow.
We are the classic example of siblings that fought like cats and dogs as kids but get along splendidly now. We're completely different but his fresh perspective on things always challenges my points-of-views, and as a result, make me a better person.
Dependable as a brother should be, I am welcome to escape to Brooklyn (where he lives and works) for weeks on end whenever I need a cultural shot in the arm.
Love you Spiff!

Day 27 - A song that you wish you could play

Pachelbel - Canon in D

I didn't realize I was giving away this post with what I wrote in my last post, but oh well, the answer is the same. I'll give Pachelbel priority of Debussy as an indication of my personal favorite.

challenges: day 26/26

60 Day Picture Challenge

Day 26 - A picture of something that means a lot to you.

Friendship
I have many acquaintances but few friends,
thus friendships are a big deal to me.
I don't give up on them easily so I've been very hurt in the past when my efforts to be a good friend have been taken for granted
or neglected completely.
Through this process though, others who value friendship as much as I do have emerged and they are the one that I feel truly blessed to be able to call 'friend'.

Day 26 - A song that you can play on an instrument

Although now I wish I knew how to play an instrument, I did happened to play the clarinet in the 5th and 6th grade band. It obviously wasn't my calling as I dropped after school band practice to become a star athlete instead, hehe.
However, it is an ambition of mine to learn how to play both Pachelbel's Canon in D and Debussy's Clair de Lune on the piano one day. For now though, I do know one song!

60 Day Picture Challenge

Day 25 - A picture of your day.

Essentially my day was about keeping warm.
This is my  awesome Kyoto tumblr in which I heat up Boss coffee to sip throughout the day. It was absolutely frigid but I guess there's something to this whole 'warm beverage actually keeping your innards warm' thing. Being from Miami, these kinds of novel notions are not a practice many of us are experienced with -
till now!

Day 25 - A song that makes you laugh

Tenacious D - Wonderboy

I heard this so long ago, in another time, and because I found the lyrics hilarious then, I still find them funny now. I first heard the song with this AMV to FLCL which I thought was a perfect match of quirky and weird.

challenges: day 24/24

Day 24 - A picture of something you wish you could change.
My height.
I'm happy with my height on a day-to-day basis, but since my dream job would be to become a supermodel, height would be useful. I know people would argue that petite models have made it big in the industry but my height combined with my athletic body type are not an easy fit for what is considered supermodel standards.

I don't begrudge the industry for these kind of unstated stipulations. All women can be fashionable but haute couture does look more dramatic on long, lanky bodies. But hey, a girl can dream. :)

Day 24 - A song that you want to play at your funeral

Mandy Moore/ Switchfoot - Only Hope

Hmm, this is morbid yet intriguing at the same time... I feel like the most appropriate song would depend on when I died and who I left behind. Instead I chose a song that people could envision me singing or that I would want a special someone to sing about me. Thus, I list both artists that sing it.

Only Hope

There's a song that's inside of my soul.
It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again
I'm awake in the infinite cold.
But you sing to me over and over and over again.

So, I lay my head back down.
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours, I pray, to be only yours
I know now you're my only hope.

Sing to me the song of the stars.
Of your galaxy dancing and laughing and laughing again.
When it feels like my dreams are so far
Sing to me of the plans that you have for me over again.

So I lay my head back down.
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours, I pray, to be only yours
I know now, you're my only hope.

I give you my destiny.
I'm giving you all of me.
I want your symphony, singing in all that I am
At the top of my lungs, I'm giving it back.

So I lay my head back down.
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours, I pray, to be only yours
I pray, to be only yours
I know now you're my only hope.

hmmmmm, hmmmmm, oooooh.

challenges: day 23/23

60 Day Picture Challenge

Day 23 - A picture of your favorite book.
The Twilight Saga
I was never much of a reader before I read the Twilight series.
They kindled a love for the art of story-telling that had never been instilled in me before.
It's not the greatest piece of literary work, but I'm not trying to impress anyone. Twilight tells a fantastical love story in a gripping manner that forever changed my definition of true love. I'll read these books over and over again and love it every time.

Day 23 - A song that you want to play at your wedding

N'sync - This I Promise You

I feel like people would think it odd to pick a song from a boy band, but I thought about it and I'm sure our parents picked songs from their teenage years. It just seems odd to us because now WE are the ones who don't think the 1990s were too long ago.
Anyways, the melody is lovely and the lyrics are everything I would want to be true between me and the person I marry.
