challenges: day 44/14

60 Day Picture Challenge

Day 44: A picture of someone you're told you look like

No one ever says I look like someone..aside from the spitting image of my mother at my age. Only my bf has told me that I specifically look like Scarlett Johansson in Lost in Translation. I really should say looked like instead because it was two years ago in Japan that I had a similar hair cut and color. He said it wasn't only in looks but also her character's persona and mannerisms. I'm not a big fan of the actress but I can see the similarities in this character. If you don't know the movie, her character is basically wandering about Japan and treats it as a fascinating new world.

There's also something to be said about the look we both give dumb ho's.

Day 14: Something I'm proud of

My Masters Degree
I don't remember what the numbers were, but the percentage of Hispanic women who reached the educational level of a master's degree is low. At the beginning of my graduate career, some jealous haters told me they thought that a masters in Asian Studies from FIU was a joke. Now they hate from afar while I have an MA that I worked hard for and am damn proud of it.

  1. When you first mentioned Scarlett Johansson, I was like "No Way!" But you definitely have a resemblance to her in the pictures you included. And I can see why Luis would say that her character in "Lost in Translation" and you have similar mannerisms. (I loved the movie, btw!)
